Lesson plan : Listening Lyric song “To The Sky”

OBJECTIVE :
Students
will be able to identify new vocabulary in the lyrics of the songs
Students
will be able to identify kinds of songs
Students
will be able to discuss the moral value of songs
Materials :
Video
of song “To the Sky”
Lyrics
of song “To the Sky”
Pre-Listening :
Warm-up
and motivations, ask the students “What is the favorite song do you like? Why?”
Get volunteer from the students and get the most favorite song they like, write
it down in the white board. Ask the students “What kinds of music don’t you
like?”. Ask their reasons and discuss with the class. Ask the students “Have
you ever seen movie The legend of
Guardians? Play the short video of The
Legend of Guardians. Tell them about
the movie and ask the students what they see and the vocabulary to show the
video, write it down in the board.
Explain
about the song that will listen is the soundtrack of that movie. Explain the
topic of the song “To the Sky” and introduction new vocabulary that will play, then
give them explanation about the new vocabulary. Give the students direction
what should they do when they listening, assignment they should do after
listening the music and retell the story of the song.
While Listening :

Give the students assignment sheet
include the lyric of the song with blank vocabulary. Their assignment is to
complete the blank vocabulary of that song. Play the video of the song “To the
Sky”. Give time to students to identify the kinds of that song and identify
about the video of that song. Before repeat the video again, ask the students
to listen carefully and ask them to complete the blank vocabulary on their
sheet.

Play the video again then give time to
the students to complete their assignment. This listening will help them to
train them how to pronounce English vocabulary well.

Make sure that students have listened
the song carefully by ask them “Have you finished your assignment? Do you can
understand that song?”. If the students still confuse give time for the
students to understand and then play again the video and give them instruction
after they listen that song, they must be tell about the song with the class
and discuss it.
Post- Listening :
·
Take the assignment sheets from the
students.
·
Show the complete lyrics of the song “To
the Sky” and show them the answer of each blank vocabulary. Ask the students
“Who have all correct answer? Who have one false? Two false? Three?” And
furthermore. If many students have false answer, they must be train listening
again, may be using different ways to listening like dialogue, conversation,
news, magazine or another.

Explain the vocabulary that may be they
don’t understand.

adventure : Exciting or dangerous journey or
experience
hills : Area of high land
stormy : period of strong winds and rain
thunder : Loud noise that follows a flash of lightning
breeze : light wind

Ask the students “What your opinion
about that song? Who like that song? Who dislike the song? And tell me the
reason?”. Write it down in the board how many students like and dislike that
song. Discuss their reason why they like and dislike that song.

Ask the students to write the summary of
that song give 5 minutes for them. After they finished write their own summary
ask them to tell the summary from that song, get volunteer from the students
and discuss it.
·
Students get moral value from that song,
ask them “What is the moral value you can take from the song?”. Get volunteers from the students and discuss
it at the class.
